Gus Fisher

Gus has a love of stone and a passion for lettering. He enjoys the power of words conveyed through the personality of each letter and he delights when texture, shape, cut and meaning become an art form.

Through his work, Gus applies a discerning eye with honed practical skills researched from, and mentored during, time served with UK master practitioners. From them he learned the fundamentals of classical and modern forms. From study travels in Italy and Turkey he widened his knowledge of lettering, which together is now the back bone of his cutting edge designs.

Collaborations sought by other artists has offered Gus a wide variety of experiences with other materials and sculptural forms.

Gus’ work has been supported by Creative Scotland and Scottish Enterprise and is featured in many galleries throughout the United Kingdom.

He knows that commemorations can take many forms. Gus takes pride in building the relationship with the client to produce works as public art, individual celebrations and fitting memorials honouring loved ones.
